Kilauea Lighthouse Village is conceived as a 45,000-square-foot, grocery-anchored neighborhood center situated on a 6.208 acre parcel along the road to the Kilauea Lighthouse in historic Kilauea, Kaua`i. Kilauea Lighthouse Village is intended to be part of a balanced and sustainable growth plan for Kilauea’s commercial core consistent with the Kilauea Town Plan of 2005.
The initial design concept contemplates up to seven separate buildings of various sizes and architectural treatments. Leasing will be focused towards local and statewide businesses to include a mid-sized grocery store, hardware store, bank or credit union, pharmacy, restaurants, small shops and offices. The buildings will have an old Hawai`i plantation town ambiance styled to complement the surrounding historic structures.

Hunt’s traffic study will recommend to the County a variety of measures to mitigate the traffic impacts from its project. These measures are designed to improve traffic flow and handle the projected increase in traffic generated by our project without the existence of a bypass road. The post office road leading into Kilauea Lighthouse Village will be improved to County standards and compromises the first 1/3 of the bypass road, which will eventually further alleviate traffic in Kilauea. This road will also include curb & gutters, street lights, and sidewalks that will connect to walkways throughout the property. Hunt will be proposing a variety of measures to improve pedestrian safety and reduce vehicle speeds, including raised crosswalks and speed tables. The County will dictate which of these pedestrian and traffic mitigation measures will be allowed.

- 1st KNA presentation – October 2010
- 1st Community workshop – December 2010
